We would like to offer you the perfect setting for the most romantic wedding reception.Nestling in the heart of Constable country and the beautiful Vale of Dedham, Le Talbooth sits in glorious gardens on the banks of the river Stour. Gerald Milsom discovered Le Talbooth in 1952, when it was a simple tea room, and over the next fifty years created an international reputation for culinary excellence.

Fifty years later, with his son Paul, that dedication to the highest quality of food and service, remains the cornerstone of le Talbooth's success. On your Wedding Day, more than any other, you want to be sure that you and your guests enjoy yourselves, safe in the knowledge that all will go as planned. Our experience and personal attention to detail ensures this, weather its a small reception in our Weavers Room, or a larger gathering in the main restaurant or the marquee.

What Kind of Reception are you Considering?

Le Talbooth caters for all types of weddings from the simple affair right through to the most sophisticated - catering for guests from 10 to more than 200.
With you we will match the size and type of your wedding with one of our three delightful reception areas.

The River Room

The River Room Restaurant is a beautifully restored elegant room opening out onto the terrace and river, offering the most idyllic views. The large parasols on the river side allow you to fully enjoy the glorious terrace. Seats up to 80 for private parties. Offers lovely views of the River Stour. Drinks beforehand can be enjoyed on the Terrace in the summer or the cozy bar and lounge in the winter.

The Weavers Room

The Weavers Room is the oldest part of the house, it is fully beamed and ideal for an intimate gathering.
Seats up to 32 guests and can be used in conjunction with Maison Talbooth where we hold a license for civil weddings.

The Marquee

The Marquee in the garden gives you the true feeling of a traditional summer wedding, elaborately decorated and beautifully situated next to the river.By having your wedding in our Marquee you will avoid paying a large part of the cost associated with the hiring a marquee.

The marquee is the ideal venue for a summer wedding when an evening reception with dancing is required.

Available from mid June to mid September. Seats up to 180 with space for a dance floor.

Maison Talbooth Civil Ceremonies

The new marriage act enables you to get married away from a church or registry office. We have been awarded a license at Maison Talbooth to hold wedding ceremonies for up to 50 guests.

Maison Talbooth enjoys a superb position overlooking the river valley with water meadows stretching away to the mediaeval church of Stratford St Mary. The ultimate wedding package combines a ceremony at Maison Talbooth with a reception at Le Talbooth - this offers the most sophisticated and stylish way to tie the knot! With 10 splendid double rooms, we invite the wedding party to celebrate without intrusion at this beautiful house.

Maison Talbooth

Our wedding package begins on the night before the wedding. when the guests check into the hotel.

In the evening, we can arrange a light buffet menu in the sitting room or dinner in Le Talbooth. Alternatively a walk into the village to one of the local pubs is an ideal way to relax before the big day.

On the wedding morning, we can arrange for a hairdresser, manicurist and florist to visit you after breakfast, whilst the sitting room is organised for the ceremony. After taking your marriage vows in this ideal setting, it's off to Le Talbooth for the reception.

For those wishing to extend the reception into Saturday evening, we can arrange a finger buffet and bar at Maison Talbooth, as long as all ten bedrooms are booked for the Saturday night, What better way to spend your day than extending your stay with family and friends and then leaving on Sunday morning after a hearty breakfast.

Talbooth Catering Service

You may prefer to have your wedding at home, in your own garden, in your Village Hall or another suitable venue. Please let us talk to you about your plans. We are able to suggest alternative venues and of particular interest would be Wolverstone Hall and the Town Hall in Colchester. We have extensive experience in Talbooth Catering and have, amongst others, catered for the Queen and Lady Thatcher. Functions for up to 500 are well within our scope and we guarantee a successful event with our usual quality and style.

We will help you with the planning and supply all the crockery, cutlery, linen and glassware, along with our experienced and dedicated team.In all that we do, we match the quality of food and service for which Le Talbooth has become famous.
